Methodology
How the draught proofing ranking is built
Each problem area is given a typical annual saving and a DIY material cost range using domestic airtightness guidance, BRE-style problem patterns, and Energy Saving Trust level assumptions. Severity scales the likely impact to reflect how much air leakage the user reports.
The ranking favours measures with strong comfort impact and short payback. Open chimneys, external doors, floorboard gaps, and loft hatches often rise to the top, while small penetrations still matter but usually sit later in the action plan.
