Methodology
How MVHR suitability is judged
MVHR usually performs best where the building envelope is already very airtight or is being comprehensively upgraded. The model therefore weights airtightness and renovation scope heavily, then considers condensation and mould because those symptoms strengthen the case for better controlled ventilation, even if MVHR itself may not be the right answer.
Annual savings are intentionally conservative because ventilation heat recovery rarely behaves like a dramatic bill-cutting measure on its own. The bigger gains are usually air quality, comfort, and moisture control when the rest of the fabric strategy supports the system properly.
