Methodology
How upgrade savings are estimated
Savings assumptions are based on the kinds of ranges commonly published by Energy Saving Trust, government retrofit guidance, and broader UK domestic energy demand evidence. Each upgrade is assigned a baseline percentage or fixed reduction, then adjusted for property type, EPC band, and heating fuel so that poorly performing homes can show larger savings potential than already-efficient ones.
Payback is shown as simple payback using a typical installed-cost benchmark for each measure. Combined savings are calculated multiplicatively rather than by simply adding every percentage together, which helps avoid overstating the impact when several upgrades affect the same heating demand.
